PIGEON
DETECTIVES
Wait
for me |
 |
|
|
"Wait for me" is the debut album from West Yorkshire's Pigeon Detectives, formed in 2002 but all knew each other since childhood. Friends of fellow Leeds band The Kaiser Chiefs, they offer up a infectious blend of up tempo indie Brit rock, a kind of lighter version of The Libertines! Mixing catchy pop anthems with shouty vocals, the album has an urgent exciting feel to it.Standout tracks like "I'm not sorry"& "Romantic type" display a tradition of Englishness in their song writing, owing a debt to classic British bands like The Clash and The Kinks. A band to watch for the future!

ARCTIC
MONKEYS
Favourite Worst Nightmare

Probably the most anticipated 2nd Album since The Stone Rose's "Second Coming", it has a lot to live up to after their first became the biggest selling debut of all time!
Hailed as the saviours of British rock, what a relief it is to hear them deliver an even finer follow up. Bursting out of the traps with single "Brianstorm*" (based on a character they met on tour in Japan!) the album grips your attention and never lets go and at 38 mins long it doesn't outstay it's welcome. The 'Monkeys have returned with the confidence to deliver short sharp pop punk classics with Alex Turner's lyrics revealing a mature wit that no 21 old has any right to possess! A bigger, bolder braver follow up album, the Arctic Monkeys are the real thing. The most important British band of the 21st century!
